Engineering

The engineering and fabrication experience we have gained from the successful production of literally thousands of different parts is a resource we apply to every job that comes into our shop.

Working from sketches, engineering drawings, prototypes, or models, we can suggest ways to make your design fabrication efficient, and can frequently improve its assembly and operational efficiency as well.

Engineering

USK offers 3D CAD (computer assisted design) that enables us to design parts in final form, in order to ensure their functionality and performance.

Then, to simplify part fabrication, we utilize 3D Unfold, software that electronically "unfolds" the finished part to create a flat pattern, automatically calculating the appropriate bend allowances.

USK also offers 2D CAD support, which facilitates the drawing of flat pattern layouts, and 2D CAM (computer assisted manufacturing) support, which generates parts programs automatically, based on our machine capabilities, cutting conditions, and tooling inventory.

Thus, clients are assured that we can produce to specification all parts that we design.

We can work with every file format including .DWG, .IGES, .DXF, and .STEP.

Shear

USK utilizes Amada mechanical shears to ensure precision cutting of all sheet metal parts. Amada shears are known for their ability to withstand heavy shearing loads, while maintaining accuracy to extremely precise tolerances.

USK specializes in the fabrication of stainless steel parts for the electronic industry, as well as sheet metal frames, panels, chassis, and enclosures.

Laser Cutting

Once reserved for the cutting of intricate novelty parts, industrial lasers are now an integral part of USK's metal fabrication operations. USK utilizes the Amada Lasmac 655 and 644 production lasers, which perform high-speed cutting of sheet metal parts at the lowest possible cost per part.

For harder materials, the lasers can perform water and gas assisted cutting. The laser system compliments our JIT manufacturing and turret punch press operations, enabling us to offer our clients speed and flexibility in production and delivery.

Punching

USK utilizes the Amada Pega 357 and 244 production punch machines. These punch machines are capable of manufacturing high production runs at high rates of speed with consistent accuracy.

To expedite the process even further, it is capable of performing minor forms, embossing, countersinking, and part marking. For small parts, we can even have the machine punch out blanks of your part in one punch less than one second each.

Brake

USK features Amada press brakes, which are unsurpassed in creating parallel beam deflections, uniform bends, and fine angle adjustments. The Amada press brake's unique design features also eliminate time consuming setup procedures such as shimming and tool alignment, maximizing production efficiency.

In addition to speed and efficiency, USK prides itself on holding its forming operations to extremely precise tolerances, even across multiple bends, as in the formation of complex parts. Our brakes have the capability to bend 120" in length on a single bend.

Welding

USK's welding operations are specifically designed to complement our overall manufacturing capabilities and to execute virtually any bonding task whether it be welding, bronzing, or soldering that a component may require.

The machine's rigidity and minimum thermal displacement features ensure amazing machine performance for both short and long operations. These machines reduce vibration to achieve high accuracy and superior durability.

Whether Spot, TIG, or MIG welding, or brazing, we have state of the art equipment for the job. Moreover, our custom built scissor lift tables are designed to hold precise tolerances on all welded parts.

Hardware

We feature the Haegar Hardware machine, one of the industry's most advanced systems for manual and automatic tooling of fabricated machinery and parts.

Hardware

The Haegar Hardware Machine can insert PEM hardware, nuts, pins, studs, ball-bearings, or self clinching fasteners into virtually any part. The system is programmable and capable of consistent, high quality, automatic operation.

Additional Services

We perform painting, bead or sand blasting, rolling, and specialize in #4 (grain direction) and #8 (mirror like) finishes.

We can also perform plating, heat treating, and lapping processes by outsourcing, which puts no limit to our capability while retaining USK's standard of quality.

Any special freight requirements can also be arranged to make us a complete one stop shop.

We can do it.
